Analysis of Factors Influencing Digital Divide on Elderly and Difference of Gender

Abstract
The purpose of the present study is to examine the causal relationship and invest the difference among digital divide (information accessibility, information competency, internet use, and mobile use) between male elderly and female elderly. For this study, 340 elderly completed 2017 age integration surveys data which had been collected nation-widely(169 male elderly, 171 female elderly). The result of this study, First, According to means difference analysis, male elderly shows significantly higher mean than female elderly on four factors(time using information, information competency, internet use, and mobile use). Second, education level, number of roommate, ages, and generation integration affect number of information devices. Third, education level, ages, and generation integration affect time using of information. Forth, number of information devices, gender, education level, time using information, and life satisfaction affect information competency. Fifth, number of information devices, gender, ages, social position, and time using information affect internet use. Lastly, information devices, time using information, gender, ages, generation integration, economic position, and number of roommate affect mobile use. Based on these results, this study suggests policy to improve the quality of life in elders.
